New Electric 7-Seat Kia Costs Less Than It Seems and Offers More Than Expected

Kia Introduces New Electric Seven-Seat Car

The world of electric vehicles is rapidly evolving, and new models are increasingly blurring the lines between traditional and modern concepts. Kia has introduced an electric version of its affordable minivan, which surprised with its futuristic design back in May 2025. It turned out that this style was not accidental – it became the basis for the new electric car.

The car is designed specifically for developing markets and is Kia’s first fully Indian electric model. It retains the futuristic design of the conventional Clavis version but has received a number of functional updates.

Technical Features and Interior

The interior of the Carens Clavis EV retains the three-row, seven-seat layout. The car received a wide 26.6-inch digital instrument panel, which is standard for all trim levels. The absence of a traditional gearbox allowed for the creation of a “floating” center console, freeing up additional space.

Available options include: ventilated front seats, a Bose audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and up to 20 driver assistance systems with Level 2 autonomy. For the convenience of second-row passengers, a “Boss Mode” with an electric seat folding mechanism is provided.

Specifications and Prices

The base version is equipped with a 42 kWh battery and a range of 404 km. The extended-range model received a 51.4 kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 490 km. Both versions support fast charging with a power of 100 kW.

In India, where this model is produced, prices for the electric version start from 17.99 lakh rupees (approximately $21,000). For comparison, the conventional version with an internal combustion engine costs from 11.50 lakh rupees.

Although the full list of sales markets has not yet been announced, Kia emphasized that pricing and availability will be adapted for each region separately. This model could become an important step for the brand in developing the affordable electric vehicle sector, especially in developing markets where demand for simple and practical electric cars is constantly growing.
