New Isuzu Electric Pickup Impresses with Its High Price

Isuzu D-Max EV: Electric Pickup for Europe

Isuzu is preparing to enter the electric pickup market with a new version of the D-Max EV. The model, which has retained its familiar design, has received an electric powertrain with two motors producing 188 hp and a 66.9 kWh battery. The declared range is 263 km according to the WLTP standard. The first deliveries in Europe are expected in early 2026.

The exterior of the electric version is almost indistinguishable from the diesel one, except for minor details such as blue accents and the absence of an exhaust pipe. The pickup is offered in two trim levels — eDL40 and eV-Cross — with a choice between an extended cab and a double cab.

Technical Specifications

The D-Max EV is equipped with all-wheel drive and a Rough Terrain Mode system, which allows it to overcome difficult off-road conditions. The payload capacity is over 1000 kg, and the maximum towing capacity is 3.5 tons. Fast charging at 50 kW allows the battery to be charged from 20% to 80% in one hour.

“This is the first mass-produced electric pickup in Europe that retains full commercial functionality”

Price and Availability

The cost of the base version of the D-Max EV in the UK starts from £59,995 (approximately $80,800), which is significantly higher than the diesel model (£27,755). However, the electric variant offers a higher level of equipment. The first orders are already open, and deliveries will begin in February 2026.

Besides the UK, the D-Max EV will also be available in Norway and some other European countries. The manufacturer provides an 8-year warranty on the battery or up to 100,000 miles.

Interestingly, even after the appearance of the electric version, diesel D-Max models remain significantly cheaper. However, the growing demand for environmentally friendly commercial vehicles could make this pickup popular among companies seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.
