Ahead of a possible debut on April 29, the Ferrari 296 VS was spotted.
Thanks to less camouflage, the model is still heavily concealed.
The car may feature an enhanced powertrain producing over 850 hp.
Ferrari is working on a hotter version of the 296, and reportedly. As things are nearing completion, a new prototype was spotted during testing in Maranello.
It was noted that the prototype had less design masking, the model resembles a Viper thanks to a new front ‘bumper’ with horizontal ribs. However, it appears that the bumper is a dummy, as a splitter is hidden behind it. This is not the only trick, as there are massive fender flares and a heavily concealed rear end.
It’s difficult to recognize the changes due to the stealthiness, but previous spy shots gave us a glimpse of the new front bumper with three lower vents on the outer edges. We can also see lightweight wheels supported by a carbon-ceramic brake system with yellow calipers from Ferrari.
Although the latest prototype has a comically large rear spoiler, it hints at an enlarged version for production. Previous images also suggest that the car will be equipped with a more aggressive diffuser.
Ferrari is keeping the details of the 296 VS under strict secrecy, but it is expected to follow the traditional “lighter and more powerful” recipe. The enhanced powertrain is expected to combine a 3.0-liter V6 engine, an electric motor, and a modest energy unit.
This configuration gives the GTB a combined output of 819 hp (610 kW / 830 PS) and 546 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) takes 2.9 seconds, and the top speed exceeds 205 mph (330 km/h). If you’re really curious about the electric range in a Ferrari, the 296 GTB can travel 16 miles (25 km) on electricity alone.
may be unveiled on April 29 and feature active aerodynamics, as well as over 850 hp (634 kW / 862 PS). Of course, all the details will be revealed very soon.
