New Dacia Hybrid All-Wheel Drive Car Aims to Relieve Drivers of Fuel Costs and Range Anxiety

New Hybrid Version of Dacia Duster and Bigster

Dacia has introduced hybrid versions of its popular Duster and Bigster SUVs. The new modification is called the Hybrid-g 150 4×4 and combines environmental friendliness, economy, and high performance.

Technical Features

This new powertrain allows the SUVs to cover up to 1500 km without refueling, making them one of the most economical in their class. Compared to petrol counterparts, operating costs are reduced by 30%.

Power and Efficiency

Under the hood is a new turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 138 hp and 230 Nm of torque. It is complemented by a rear electric motor with 31 hp and 87 Nm. The total system power is 152 hp.

The engine is paired with a six-speed robotic dual-clutch gearbox, which appears for the first time in Dacia models. The electric motor has a two-speed gearbox that can disengage the rear axle to reduce fuel consumption. All-wheel drive is activated at speeds up to 140 km/h.

Driving Modes and Energy System

Drivers have access to six control modes: Auto, Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, Lock, and Hill Descent Control. Energy is stored in a 48V lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.84 kWh, which is charged through regenerative braking. According to the manufacturer, in urban conditions, the SUVs can run on electric power up to 60% of the time.

Fuel System and Economy

The models are equipped with two 50-liter fuel tanks—for petrol and liquefied gas. This provides a combined range of 1500 km. Given the low price of LPG in Europe, the new hybrid version significantly reduces fuel costs.

Updates for the Duster

In addition to the new powertrain, the Duster received interior updates, including new upholstery and adjustable lumbar support for the driver’s seat in the Journey version. The Extreme trim now offers black alloy wheels.

Availability and Future Updates

The Hybrid-g 150 4×4 versions of the Duster and Bigster will be available for order on European markets by the end of the year. Prices will be announced later. Furthermore, by the end of 2026, the Duster is expected to receive other updates to its powertrain lineup, including Eco-G 120, mild-hybrid 140, and hybrid 155 variants, which will replace older counterparts.

This news demonstrates how Dacia continues to combine affordability with innovation, offering customers economical and environmentally friendly solutions without losing the properties of an SUV. The growing popularity of hybrid technologies and alternative fuels could significantly influence the future development of the automotive market in Europe.
