Mercedes Showed Nearly Camouflage-Free New GT 4-Door in Las Vegas
During the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where the city was surrounded by numerous barriers, the German automaker Mercedes presented an updated prototype of the high-performance electric GT 4-Door sedan. The event became the perfect place to showcase the novelty, which is already attracting attention thanks to its reduced camouflage and bright design.
Key Features of the New Model
Exterior: Innovations and Style
The car features bright wrapping and noticeably less camouflage compared to previous prototypes. It inherited features from the AMG GT XX concept, including star-effect LED headlights and a fully enclosed radiator grille. Vertical air curtains and an elegant splitter are also noticeable.
Side and Rear View
The windshield has a gentle slope that smoothly transitions into a sloping roofline. The body features streamlined shapes, and the door handles are integrated into the surface. The rear section, although still containing elements of various components, already shows an almost production-ready bumper.
Interior and Technologies
The interior trim remains largely inaccessible for viewing; however, previous spy shots show that the model will get a sporty steering wheel with a flat bottom and a curved display reminiscent of the solution from the concept car.
Platform and Powertrain
Mercedes announced this car long ago, confirming that it will be built on the new AMG.EA platform. This platform, called a “technology pioneer,” combines aluminum, steel, and composite materials to ensure lightness and high rigidity.
The model is expected to receive a modern battery system and up to three axial electric motors. The concept car developed over 1341 hp, but the production version will likely be somewhat more modest, although Mercedes-AMG has high hopes for this sedan and the related crossover.
