New Compact Audi Crossover Receives Sleeker Design and More Powerful Engine

Audi Tests New Q3 Sportback on the Nürburgring

Audi recently introduced the updated Q3, and the company is now preparing to launch the Sportback version of this model. A prototype is already undergoing testing on the legendary German track. The new version will inherit 85% of the characteristics of the regular Q3 but will receive a more sloping coupe-style roof, giving it a more dynamic appearance.

Although precise details regarding interior space have not been disclosed yet, the Sportback version is expected to have slightly less headroom for rear passengers and a reduced luggage compartment. Technical specifications are likely to be identical to the regular model, including two levels of LED headlights and an updated infotainment system.

Technology and Engines

The interior of the new model will feature large displays: an 11.9-inch instrument panel and a 12.8-inch multimedia screen. Among the innovations are artificial intelligence for voice control and refined control elements.

Available engine options will include a 2.0-liter diesel, a 1.5-liter petrol TFSI (148 hp), and a more powerful 2.0-liter TFSI for the US market (261 hp). For the first time in the lineup, a Q3 e- plug-in hybrid will appear with an electric range of up to 119 km.

The updated Q3 Sportback is likely to be positioned as a more premium version compared to the regular model. Its official presentation is expected in the summer, and it could become an interesting alternative for those who appreciate the combination of crossover practicality with coupe elegance.
