New Chinese Stellantis partner targets competition with Xiaomi YU7

Voyah Passion S: New competitor to Xiaomi YU7 with Chinese roots and European ambitions

Many Chinese cars that appear online remain only for the domestic market, but the Voyah Passion S could be an exception. This electric vehicle has every chance of reaching European buyers, and the path it will take to get there says a lot about the Stellantis company itself. Voyah is the premium electric brand of Dongfeng, and the Passion S clearly borrows some design features from the Xiaomi YU7.

Partnership with Stellantis: the key to Europe

Voyah is still little known outside China, but Stellantis has confirmed negotiations with Dongfeng to establish a joint venture. This would allow Voyah models to be manufactured and sold in Europe, similar to how Stellantis currently works with Leapmotor internationally. A crossover like the Passion S, which has more European than Chinese features, would be a smart move to establish the brand in the local market.

After producing Leapmotor in Spain, Stellantis wants to build Dongfeng in France

Design and dimensions

Presented in a rich red color, the Passion S features split headlights connected by an LED strip, black air intakes, and a black splitter. It also has black wheel arches, a panoramic glass roof, and a prominent lidar. Curved rear fenders resemble the Xiaomi YU7, while a fixed carbon fiber spoiler adds a sporty accent.

According to Chinese media, the dimensions of the Passion S are:

The car is equipped with 21-inch wheels with massive brake calipers. Interior photos have not yet been released.

Technical specifications and power

Although the battery specification has not yet been confirmed, it is known that the Passion S will be offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The base model is expected to have 408 hp, while the dual-motor version will produce an impressive 646 hp. While this is not enough to match the Xiaomi YU7 GT (990 hp), it is still more power than most drivers need. The 800-volt architecture will provide fast DC charging.

Production and sales prospects

There is currently no information on the sales launch date of the Passion S in China or its price. If the deal between Stellantis and Dongfeng is finalized, Voyah models could be produced in Europe, potentially at the plant in Rennes (France). It is quite possible that the Passion S will be one of the models that Stellantis decides to sell in the local market.

Voyah’s entry into the European market through a joint venture with Stellantis is a strategically important step. It allows the Chinese brand to avoid high import duties and adapt faster to local requirements. The Passion S, with its powerful specifications and design aimed at the Western consumer, could become a serious player in the premium electric crossover segment, competing not only with Xiaomi but also with traditional European brands. However, the key factor for success will be the price and the speed of production ramp-up in Europe.
