The New M2 Can Almost Be Bought for the Amount This 4,000-Mile Used Range Rover Lost

Certain car brands lose value significantly faster than others. Although the biggest price drops are usually associated with premium German models, new Range Rovers can also depreciate rapidly. A prime example is this 2024 P530 Autobiography LWB, which lost $56,520 in value in just one year and with only 4,900 miles on the odometer.

Among premium SUVs, the Range Rover has long remained a favorite among buyers. Although JLR models are not known for their reliability, few SUVs can match the Range Rover’s status. This Autobiography LWB version is one of the most refined representatives of the lineup with a starting price of $170,400. However, thanks to $15,000 worth of additional equipment, the total cost came to $191,520.

The most expensive option was the Flux Silver paint for $8,540. The car also received deployable side steps for $5,600, 23-inch wheels, an exterior blackout package for $1,000, a heated windshield for $350, and Ebony Near-Aniline leather seats for $1,150. Due to the minimal mileage and recent purchase in March 2024, the car looks like new.

Despite the pleasure of owning such a car, losing $56,520 in a year probably left a bitter aftertaste. For that money, one could buy, for example, a new BMW M2 or another premium sports car.

Cars & Bids

The P530 variant is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 523 hp with 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Although the new owner might think they got a good deal at the online auction, this SUV’s value is still far from its bottom. Decade-old Range Rover Autobiography models are now valued at $20,000-$30,000, and this model will likely reach a similar price level by the early 2030s.

However, potential buyers should keep in mind that the operating costs correspond to the car’s original price—meaning they will be very high. If the budget allows, one can confidently buy it. Otherwise, it’s better to consider more affordable options like the Honda CR-V, whose repairs won’t require astronomical costs.
