The New Macan GTS is an Electric Porsche That Doesn’t Forget the Driver

New Sports Version of the Electric Porsche Macan

Porsche has introduced a new model of the electric Macan crossover in the GTS version. This version features improved handling, power, and a unique sporty design.

Porsche’s Electrification Strategy

Porsche is changing its plans for electrifying the model range but is not abandoning it completely. Instead, the brand aims to provide a diversity of electric models, similar to internal combustion engine cars, using familiar designations such as GTS.

Design Features

Externally, the GTS received a front bumper from the Turbo model, black accents on the lower radiator grilles and side air intakes, as well as darkened Matrix LED headlights. Additionally, the car has sharper side skirts, a unique rear diffuser, and extensions on the active rear spoiler, all finished in black.

The crossover sits on 21-inch Anthracite Gray wheels, and 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels are also available for a more expressive look. The color palette includes 15 standard and optional shades, among them Chalk, Carmine Red, and Lugano Blue, plus an additional 60 colors through the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program.

The more aggressive front and rear of the GTS are part of the Sport Design package, which will become available for all Macan Electric versions from the summer of 2026. However, other models will not receive the GTS-specific contrasting black accents.

Interior and Technology

The car’s interior is upholstered in Race-Tex materials and black leather. Buyers have the option to choose a stitching color that matches the exterior paint if one of the following colors is selected: Carmine Red, Slate Gray Neo, or Lugano Blue. The GTS logo is placed on the steering wheel, adaptive 18-mode sport seats, and the digital instrument cluster graphics.

Like all 2026 Macan Electric models, the GTS received a number of updates, including a digital key, new Park Assist functions, Voice Pilot artificial intelligence, improved in-car gaming options, and an increased towing capacity of up to 5,500 pounds (2,495 kg).

Performance and Speed

In terms of power, the GTS is positioned between the 4S and Turbo versions. The dual-motor setup produces 509 hp in standard mode and up to 563 hp in Overboost mode with a torque of 955 Nm. This power is provided by a rear electric motor and a gear ratio borrowed from the Turbo model.

With the Launch Control function activated, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds, which is only half a second slower than the Turbo. The top speed is 250 km/h. According to Porsche, the electric GTS can cover a quarter mile in 12 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds slower than the Turbo.

Suspension and Additional Features

Rear-wheel steering remains an option, but the GTS comes standard with a rear-axle limited-slip differential, Sport Chrono package, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system. Furthermore, the GTS air suspension has its own tuning, including adjustments for dampers, anti-roll bars, and a lowered ride height. Two exclusive sound profiles linked to Sport and Sport Plus modes have also been introduced.

Battery and Charging

Like the rest of the model range, the GTS received a 100 kWh battery. Charging time from 10% to 80% is 21 minutes when connected to a fast-charging station. Additionally, the Track Endurance mode, borrowed from the Taycan, cools the battery, allowing for longer periods of fast driving.

Price and Availability

Orders for the 2026 Macan GTS Electric are now open, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring. The starting price is $103,000, which is approximately $6,500 cheaper than the top Turbo Electric model but almost $10,000 more expensive than the gasoline-powered Macan GTS version.

The electric Macan GTS demonstrates how Porsche integrates traditional sports car values into its electric models. Balanced performance, unique design, and technological innovations make it an attractive choice for those seeking a combination of dynamics and environmental friendliness. This model also highlights the growing competition in the electric crossover market, where Porsche continues to hold leading positions.
