New Electric Bentley Sheds Its Camouflage
The upcoming Bentley electric crossover, known under the working name Urban SUV, has appeared on the roads in an almost production-ready form during winter testing. The car has shed the bulky plastic cladding and fake headlights used on early prototypes, allowing for a clear view of the new model’s design.
The general body contours were already known from previous spy photos, but now, with regular doors and less aggressive camouflage, the car’s silhouette looks much cleaner. Particular attention is drawn to the lighting units, visible through the film—they look more modern than those on previous mock-ups.
Interior Inspired by Porsche
Even more interesting is the first detailed photo of the interior. The centerpiece is a curved OLED panel, very similar to the display in the Porsche Cayenne.
The hardware is pure Volkswagen Group, including the multifunction steering wheel switch, which we first saw on the Audi Q3, and the right steering column stalk for selecting drive modes, as on the VW ID.4. But the materials are unmistakably Bentley.
Even in this early prototype, a mix of high-quality leather, polished metal, and rich colors is used, including a steering wheel trimmed in black, red, and chrome.
Power and Technical Features
The Bentley electric crossover is developed on the modular PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, also used by Porsche. Bentley CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser has already promised an impressive battery capacity and the fastest charging in the brand’s history.
Performance is expected to be at least on par with the electric Cayenne, whose power exceeds 1000 hp in top versions. Most likely, the base Bentley model will receive a powertrain with around 604 hp (612 PS).
Name and Launch Timeline
The final model name has not yet been announced, although Bentley has registered the trademarks “Mayon” and “Barnato.” It is known that the car will be produced at the Crewe plant, with the official premiere scheduled for late 2026 and sales starting in 2027.
The arrival of Bentley’s first fully electric SUV marks a key stage in the brand’s electric transformation, known for its powerful internal combustion engines. The use of the proven PPE platform allows a focus on luxurious execution and unique characteristics that will distinguish this model from its technically related Porsche and Audi counterparts. The success of this car could define the brand’s strategy for the next decade, as the luxury electric vehicle market becomes increasingly fierce.
