New Information About the 2026 Nissan Versa
Production of the updated 2026 Nissan Versa model year began at the beginning of this week. The automaker has not yet revealed all the details, but some key points have already become known in advance; the official premiere is scheduled for March 3.
In the Mexican market, the car will be offered in three trim levels. The base Sense level is equipped with LED lighting and 15-inch steel wheels. Safety is ensured by six airbags, and multimedia needs are covered by a 9-inch infotainment system with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard equipment also includes a forward collision warning system and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian recognition.
Difference Between Trim Levels
The Sense CVT trim, in addition to the continuously variable transmission, receives additional options: an engine start button, cruise control, and rear parking sensors. The audio system here is two-speaker, and there is also a shark-fin antenna and an automatic door locking system.
The Advance trim differs with approach lighting and 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior features a four-speaker audio system and, likely, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. A passive entry system and a 360-degree camera also appear. The Advance CVT version has similar equipment.
Top Exclusive Version
The highest Exclusive trim is available exclusively with the CVT. It received 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a premium Bose audio system with eight speakers, including headrest speakers. Among other improvements are a wireless smartphone charger, a lane departure prevention system, and blind spot intervention.
Nissan positions the Versa as “the most technologically advanced sedan in its class.”
The interior of the top version looks quite modern, with soft materials on the dashboard and imitation contrast stitching. However, in the base trims, hard plastics, analog instruments, and a simple steering wheel with a flat bottom, adorned with silver inserts, predominate.
Technical Specifications
Nissan has already confirmed the main technical details. The car received a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 118 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. As with the previous model, buyers will be able to choose between a manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission (CVT); the drive is front-wheel drive.
The updates for the 2026 Versa are focused primarily on technological equipment and comfort, especially in the higher trims. This may be Nissan’s attempt to increase the sedan’s appeal in markets where this class of car is still in demand, despite the general trend towards crossovers. The success of this strategy will largely depend on the final price and the model’s availability in different regions, as competition in the affordable sedan segment remains high.
