The New Porsche 911 4S Got More of Everything, Except a Gear Lever

Updated 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

The Porsche 911 has always offered a wide choice of modifications, so the appearance of the updated Carrera 4S after the facelift is a logical step. This version combines a modernized powertrain with all-wheel drive, but unfortunately, a manual transmission is not on the options list – only the eight-speed PDK.

According to the manufacturer, almost half of the buyers in the US choose all-wheel-drive S-series versions, making the Carrera 4S an important element of the lineup. Externally, the car has inherited new bumpers and LED headlights with matrix technology, while the interior features standard leather trim and optional rear seats for the coupe.

Technical Changes

The updated 3.0-liter boxer engine now delivers 473 hp and 529 Nm of torque. The PTM all-wheel-drive system remains rear-biased but has received improvements for more precise power distribution. The standard equipment now includes a sport exhaust system, improved brakes from the previous GTS, and an updated suspension.

Additional options include the Sport Chrono package, a lower sports suspension PASM, rear-axle steering (standard for Targa), and ceramic brakes. With this equipment, the Carrera 4S accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, only 0.2 seconds slower than the GTS.

Prices and Availability

Pre-orders in the US are already open, with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2024. The approximate starting price for the coupe is around $154,200, the Cabriolet – $167,400, and the Targa – $169,000. The final cost may change due to possible customs duty adjustments.

Despite the lack of a manual transmission, the updated Carrera 4S offers significant technological progress. The improved dynamics are particularly noteworthy – the difference with the more powerful GTS is now minimal, making this version more attractive for those seeking a balance between performance and the practicality of all-wheel drive.
