New Pagani Huayra 70 Derecho Roadster with V12 Demands Manual Gear Shifting from the Driver

Pagani presented the new Huayra 70 Derecho ahead of Goodwood

Horacio Pagani celebrated his 70th birthday last year, and the celebrations will continue at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where his company will present the Huayra 70 Derecho. It is a “limited series” and the second of three Huayra 70 models created to honor Horacio’s anniversary.

Design and Exterior

Made by the Grandi Complicazioni division, the Huayra 70 Derecho features a two-tone body with pearl-orange body color and blue accents. The manufacturer notes that this combination creates a sense of lightness and forward motion, while also emphasizing the “fishbone” weave of the carbon fiber.

Special details do not end there: the roadster features milled aluminum components with a glossy titanium anodized finish. These are complemented by 20- and 21-inch wheels, as well as a prominent rear wing and air intake that overhangs the passengers’ heads.

Interior and Trim

Looking inside, you can see a handcrafted interior with Ceramic White and Tricolore Blue leather. These are complemented by contrast stitching, blue carbon fiber, and high-quality switches. The model also features pearl-orange paint on the steering wheel and gear shift lever, and the door panels bear the inscription “Huayra 70 Derecho.”

Technical Specifications

Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 852 hp (635 kW / 864 PS) and 811 lb-ft (1100 Nm) of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. This configuration allows the model to achieve an electronically limited top speed of 218 mph (350 km/h).

In a statement, Horacio Pagani said:

Our daily work is to pay maximum attention to every detail, striving to achieve that necessary harmony between form and function, intellect and craftsmanship, as Leonardo da Vinci taught us. The opportunity to present the world premiere of the Pagani Huayra 70 Derecho at Goodwood is a privilege for us: it is a chance to share the fruits of this work with those who share our deep love for the automobile.

This vehicle is not just another supercar, but a true work of art that combines advanced technology and handcraftsmanship. The limited series of three models underscores the exclusivity and attention to detail that have become the brand’s hallmark. The V12 engine from AMG, while not a novelty, remains one of the most powerful and emotional powertrains in the world, especially in combination with a manual transmission, which is becoming rare even for hypercars. The premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the ideal venue for such a car, as it is an event where enthusiasts can see and hear these machines in action, not just on an exhibition stand.
