New sedan from BYD surpasses McLaren 750S in power

New flagship sedan BYD: power and range impress

BYD has introduced a new sedan called the Great Han, which is the latest addition to the Dynasty series. The car not only has an elegant design but also offers impressive performance capable of leaving some real supercars behind.

Electric versions: power and efficiency

The Chinese brand will offer both fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the Great Han. The base electric model is equipped with a 496 hp (370 kW) motor on the rear axle, allowing a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h). For those seeking more performance, a dual-motor version is available with an additional front motor of 268 hp (200 kW). The total power of this version reaches 764 hp (570 kW), surpassing even the McLaren 750S.

It is worth noting that the BYD weighs quite a lot — 2505 kg (5522 lbs), so it is unlikely to compete with the British supercar on the track. However, this demonstrates how powerful electric vehicles from China can be. The range is also impressive: 626 miles (1008 km) for the rear-wheel drive version and 547 miles (880 km) for the all-wheel drive version.

Plug-in hybrid version

The plug-in hybrid model will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 154 hp (115 kW) and an electric motor with 268 hp (200 kW). This version is more focused on efficiency than performance and is equipped with a large 54.4 kWh battery, providing an electric-only range of up to 230 miles (370 km). All three variants are expected to use second-generation Blade Batteries with support for 1500 kW fast charging technology.

Design and dimensions

Visually, the Great Han resembles the cheaper and smaller Han, but has an even more streamlined design. The car is truly large: length — 206.9 inches (5256 mm), width — 78.7 inches (1999 mm), height — 59.4 inches (1510 mm), and wheelbase — 123.2 inches (3130 mm). The front end, while not overly expressive, looks quite striking thanks to stylish LED headlights and a curved bumper.

Sales of the new BYD Great Han will begin this year, although prices have not yet been announced.

This car is further evidence of the rapid development of the Chinese automotive industry, which increasingly offers not just affordable but also technologically advanced models. The combination of immense range, high power, and hybrid technologies makes the Great Han a serious player in the premium sedan market. Particularly intriguing is the claimed 1500 kW fast charging technology, which, if realized, could fundamentally change perceptions of electric vehicle charging times. At the same time, the car’s significant weight reminds us of the challenges manufacturers face in creating powerful electric vehicles.
