The New Audi Sports Car
Audi has introduced the Concept C concept car, which is 90% ready for series production and is set to debut in 2027. This model will not be the successor to the TT and will receive a new name. Among the possible features are a virtual gearbox and the simulation of a five-cylinder engine sound.
Design and Technical Features
The Concept C demonstrates a new design approach for Audi, combining straight angular lines with soft curves. According to CEO Gernot Döllner, the car is positioned between the TT and the R8. Technically, the model is closely related to the future electric Porsche 718 EV.
This is a fully functional concept, approved for roads; you will soon be driving it.
Name and Innovations
Development progressed so quickly that the team did not have time to decide on a name. The model will not inherit the TT name and will receive a new designation, possibly with the letter R or something else.
A virtual gearbox and sound effects, such as the simulation of a five-cylinder engine’s operation, could become key elements to satisfy enthusiasts. Döllner noted that even on a race track, it is faster with the virtual gearbox.
The Future of the R8 and Engines
Regarding the revival of the R8, Döllner did not rule out such a possibility but noted that the focus must first be on launching the new electric coupe. The RS3 engine will not be updated to meet Euro 7 standards, but its sound may return in a virtual form.
Electrification continues to change the automotive industry, and Audi seems to be trying to find a balance between innovation and preserving the emotions associated with traditional engines. The implementation of virtual technologies could become a new stage for sports cars, where speed and sound are combined with environmental friendliness.
