Buick Introduces New Electric Model for the Chinese Market
Buick has released a teaser for a new electric vehicle that will join its Electra sub-brand. The car, which resembles a concept car, is designed specifically for the Chinese market and will be based on the Xiao Yao EV platform.
Electra is a separate lineup of electric Buick models, introduced in April 2025. The teaser shows the production version of the sedan, which has retained the key features of the concept but received more practical elements, such as conventional mirrors and LED headlights.
Technological Interior and Future Models
The manufacturer has not yet revealed interior details, but it is expected to be equipped with eight screens, a 50-inch AR projection display, and artificial intelligence based on the Qualcomm 8775 chip. The driver assistance system is developed by Momenta.
This sedan is just one of six new products that Buick plans to launch next year. All of them will be built on the Xiao Yao platform, which supports various types of powertrains, including all-electric and hybrid variants.
The model will receive batteries from CATL with support for fast charging up to 640 kW. The full presentation of the Electra sedan will take place soon, but it will likely remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
China remains a key market for Buick, where demand for traditional sedans remains high. The new electric model is expected to combine modern technology with design focused on local preferences. The use of a locally developed platform and partnerships with Chinese technology companies highlights the brand’s strategy of adapting to local conditions.
