A new Nürburgring record was set recently. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR supercar completed the 20.6-kilometer lap in 6 minutes 40.3 seconds. This is the best time among cars approved for public roads.
For the record, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS coupe was slightly modified by the Manthey Racing team specialists. Its suspension and aerodynamics were re-tuned.
However, the 3.8-liter 700 hp turbocharged boxer engine was left untouched.
The Porsche supercar proved faster than much more powerful cars – such as the 1360 hp Nio EP9 electric hypercar (6:45.9) and the one-of-a-kind 1000 hp McLaren P1 LM (6:43.22).
Also left behind was the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, which holds the record for the Nordschleife among production cars at 6:44.97. It is unclear whether a Manthey Racing version of the 911 GT2 will be released or if it will remain a one-off.
