In Germany, the new 2020 Volkswagen Golf was spotted for the first time. The hatchback was seen in a McDonald’s parking lot almost without camouflage.
The photo of the Volkswagen Golf VIII was published on Instagram by user johannes.vag. The car retains a familiar design, although the windshield angle has been increased and the sides are less profiled. The 2020 Volkswagen Golf will keep the platform of the current model (MQB).
However, its wheelbase will be increased, and the car’s weight will be reduced by 45 kg.
All versions of the Volkswagen Golf 8 will be equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The car will feature 1.0 and 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engines, as well as 1.6 and 2.0-liter turbo diesels. Later, 2.0-liter powered Volkswagen Golf GTI and R models will appear, but there will no longer be an electric car – it will be replaced by the Volkswagen I.D.
