The New Xiaomi YU7 GT Aims to Outperform Porsche

A New Electric Giant from Xiaomi

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, not content with creating a fully electric sedan with performance on par with million-dollar hypercars, is finalizing the development of a high-performance, GT version of the YU7 SUV. This model has the potential to seriously compete with Porsche.

The YU7 GT had been spotted testing before, but this is the first time it has been seen without any camouflage. These photos were taken during an official photoshoot of the SUV near the Nürburgring. It looks just as extreme as the SU7 Ultra and appears ready to conquer race tracks and drag strips around the world.

This Ferrari-like SUV from China has more power than the real thing.

Updated Design for Maximum Expression

A whole series of design changes have been made for the SUV to ensure it stands out from the regular model. The changes start at the front, where Xiaomi redesigned the lower grille and added a new spoiler.

The company’s designers also created dramatically flared fenders for the YU7 GT, allowing for wider wheels and tires. Behind these new wheels hide upgraded brakes, including absolutely giant red calipers. Many changes have also been made to the rear, including a more aggressive diffuser and a different bumper.

This prototype was also fitted with a silver, motorsport-inspired livery, including silver racing stripes running along the body.

Power to Match the Looks

Recent Chinese documents have revealed what performance the new electric vehicle will possess. While the SU7 Ultra uses three high-power electric motors to deliver 1548 hp and 1770 Nm of torque, this model does not use the Ultra designation and is not as extreme. However, it will still deliver 990 hp from its twin-motor setup, enough to achieve a top speed of 300 km/h.

Such comprehensive testing at the Nürburgring indicates that Xiaomi is seriously committed to providing phenomenal track performance. However, the question of whether it can combine this performance with thrilling driving dynamics remains open.

Expectations and Prospects

Prices have not yet been announced, but rumors suggest a cost ranging from 450,000 to 500,000 yuan, or approximately $65,000 to $73,000 USD.

The arrival of the YU7 GT on the market could be a landmark event, as it demonstrates the ability of new tech companies not only to quickly enter the automotive industry but also to immediately target the high-performance car segment. The success of the SU7 has already shown that Xiaomi can create serious products, and the launch of a powerful electric SUV expands its portfolio and target audience. Competition with established brands like Porsche in the electric era is becoming increasingly real, and the success of Chinese manufacturers in this segment could force traditional players to adapt their strategies even faster.
