Unique Ukrainian-Made Volga Pickup Discovered

Few people know that the first Volga was not only a sedan or a station wagon but also a pickup truck. Moreover, the cargo versions were not made at GAZ, but at a number of other enterprises – in Kharkiv, Riga, Moscow, and Voronezh.It was the Kharkiv Volga pickup that was discovered a few years ago and restored. The car even retained its Soviet-era Kharkiv region license plates.It’s easy to notice that the roof of the GAZ-21 was cut at the back, and the doors were sealed. A fold-down rear gate was also added. Interestingly, the car was painted in taxi colors, and even checker patterns were added because GAZ pickups were used as cargo taxis in several cities.
