This unusual SUV, which could be mistaken for a GAZ-69 with a homemade body, was photographed on the streets of Lviv. In fact, it is not quite a GAZ-69, but its licensed copy from Romania, known as the IMS M-461 (later ARO M-461).

The two-door open body, with two benches along the sides at the rear, visually was practically indistinguishable from that fitted on the GAZ-69. But the car photographed in Lviv is equipped with a non-standard fully enclosed all-metal body.

It has one door on the driver’s side and two on the passenger side. At the back, there is a small hatch that folds down like a tailgate on pickups, providing access to the trunk.

The body is made so neatly that there are doubts about its homemade origin. Perhaps some Romanian repair plant produced a number of such all-metal SUVs, writes Carakoom, but we cannot be 100% sure, as no photos of other examples have been found.
