One of 1700: A 1998 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Charged Estate Car Listed for $20,000 (Photo)

This weekend, the Aguttes auction in France will offer for sale a 1998 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG sports estate. The car belongs to a rare estate body version of the E-Class, with a production run of about 1,700 units. The estimated lot price is between $16,216 and $20,849. This is reported by Classic Driver.

The car has an odometer reading of 134,000 km. The current owner purchased it in 2020. Previously, the car was delivered new to Würzburg, Germany, in late 1998, later exported to Japan, and in 2018 returned to Europe – to the Netherlands.

The model was introduced in 1997 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V8 engine from the M113 series.

The unit’s power is 354 hp. The engine works in conjunction with a five-speed automatic transmission, which at the time of its debut was considered a modern transmission for sports models.

The example has a body painted in Emerald Black Metallic. Externally, the model is distinguished by specific AMG bumpers and side skirts, chrome-plated exhaust tips, and 18-inch AMG wheels.

The interior is equipped with black leather seats. The Avantgarde trim includes a sunroof, heated seats, and cruise control.

The instrument panel features a branded AMG speedometer with markings up to 280 km/h.

At the end of 2024, the car underwent maintenance. During the service, the engine oil and water pump were replaced, and new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires were installed. After this, the estate was used very little.
