New Mazda CX-5: More Space and Modern Design
Mazda has officially unveiled the third generation of the popular CX-5 crossover. The new model received an updated design, a modern interior, and increased dimensions. The car became 115 mm longer, and its wheelbase increased by 76 mm. The width also grew by 15 mm, allowing it to approach the dimensions of competitors such as the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson.
The increased dimensions positively impacted passenger comfort, especially in the rear seats. The cargo capacity also increased – an additional 61 liters of space. Mazda Australia Director Vinesh Bhindi emphasized the importance of customer feedback:
“We carefully studied the opinions of buyers and experts to make key changes. Particular attention was paid to the comfort of rear passengers and the convenience of loading luggage.”
Interior Updates and Technical Features
Externally, the CX-5 retained its recognizable image but received new optics and a radiator grille. The interior is inspired by the design of the brand’s latest models, particularly the CX-60 and CX-90. Among the key changes are a new steering wheel, an updated instrument panel, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system.
The launch of the new model in the US market is expected in early 2026, and a hybrid version is set to debut a year later. Details regarding prices and trim levels will be revealed by the manufacturer closer to the start of sales.
The updates to the Mazda CX-5 demonstrate how the manufacturer responds to market needs. The increased dimensions and improved ergonomics make the model even more attractive to family buyers while preserving the brand’s signature style. Particular interest is sparked by the promised hybrid version, which could significantly enhance the model’s competitiveness in the context of growing popularity of eco-friendly vehicles.
