One Mistake Behind the Wheel Could Lead to Deportation of Illegal Migrants

New Draft Law on Deportation of Illegal Immigrants

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that allows for the deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The law was voted for by all Republicans and 37 Democrats. The document will now be considered by the Senate, after which it could be sent to the President for signature.

The bill is named the “Protecting Our Communities from DUI Act of 2025” in honor of three people who died in accidents involving illegal immigrants guilty of driving while intoxicated. It will not be retroactive, meaning it will apply only to future cases.

“Today we are considering a simple bill that says: if you are a guest in our country and drive a car while intoxicated, you should be deported,” stated Congressman Barry Moore.

Reaction to the Draft Law

However, not everyone supports this initiative. Some organizations, such as “Advocates for Human Rights,” believe the law will increase racial profiling and inequality in the application of justice. Critics also point out that the U.S. already has laws that allow for the deportation of illegal immigrants, but they are not sufficiently enforced.

The issue of immigration remains one of the most contentious in U.S. politics. This draft law could become a test of the readiness of Democrats and Republicans to find compromises on issues of security and human rights. It is still unclear whether it will receive sufficient support in the Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority.
