Rare Mercedes-AMG ONE burned down in Germany
One of the 275 examples of the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar, worth millions of dollars, has been completely destroyed by fire. The causes of the incident are still unknown, but Mercedes is likely to conduct a detailed investigation. The fire engulfed the interior and rear of the car, leaving only a charred frame.
Firefighters were already at the scene trying to extinguish the flames, but to no avail. Footage from the scene shows that the car turned into ashes. One social media user ironically remarked:
AMG ONE is a hot sports car, better without a lithium-ion battery
However, there is no confirmed data yet that the fire is specifically related to the hybrid system.
Possible consequences of the incident
Owners of other AMG ONEs will undoubtedly follow the investigation, as similar cases may indicate potential issues with the model. Recall that last year, Lamborghini announced a recall due to a fire caused by improper installation of the oil system. Although there is no evidence of similar problems in this case, Mercedes is unlikely to ignore the incident.
We can only hope that no one was injured and that this incident will remain isolated. The company will likely publish an official report after the investigation is completed.
