Ford Introduces the Off-Road-Ready Explorer Tremor
Modern SUVs have become much more comfortable, but in recent years, automakers have been restoring their brutality with special packages. Ford offers such a package called Tremor for the Expedition, F-150, and Maverick models, and now it is also available for the 2026 Explorer.
Off-Road Preparation Without Losing Comfort
The Tremor package includes a special suspension that raises the ground clearance by 25 mm. The springs and stabilizers have been retuned for comfortable driving on both asphalt and off-road. Underbody protection is also provided for added safety.
The model is equipped with off-road tires on 18-inch wheels and an inter-axle limited-slip differential. Unlike the base versions, the Tremor comes with standard all-wheel drive. The standard engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost with 300 hp, but a 3.0-liter V6 with 400 hp is available as an option for an additional cost.
Design with Sporty Style Elements
The exterior is adorned with bright orange accents on the grille, tow hooks, and wheel rims. The same color is used in the interior for the stitching on the steering wheel, seats, and panels.
In 2026, the Explorer Tremor will receive a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen. A 360-degree camera is included as standard equipment, but options such as massaging seats or a B&O audio system will require an additional payment.
The price of the new model has not yet been announced, but analysts expect the Tremor to be positioned between the ST-Line and ST versions, with a starting price of around $52,000-54,000. The version with the more powerful V6 will cost at least $56,000.
The new Explorer version retains all the advantages of a civilized SUV but adds enough capability for light off-roading. Its availability with two engine options is particularly interesting, allowing you to choose the balance between power and efficiency according to your own preferences.
