Acura Prepares to Break the Record at Pikes Peak

Acura is participating in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb — one of the most challenging automotive competitions. This year, the company is presenting a modified version of the Integra Type S DE5, which aims to set a new record for front-wheel-drive cars. The current record is held by the Acura TLX with a time of 10:48.094.

Behind the wheel of the Integra Type S DE5 will be experienced racer Katherine Legge, who already drove this model last year. The car has received serious modifications:

“This event is a true test for any car. We are confident that the Integra Type S DE5 has every chance to deliver an outstanding result,” the team said in a statement.

In addition to the race version, Acura will bring a bright yellow NSX to Pikes Peak, which will be used as a pace car. Olympic medalist Rusty Smith will be behind its wheel.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race will take place on June 23. This is a unique competition where participants cover 20 kilometers of serpentine roads with an elevation gain of over 1400 meters. The track conditions are constantly changing due to altitude variations, making it one of the most difficult in the world.
