In Germany, the new second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA was presented. The most compact Mercedes crossover will start selling in the spring.

Design of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA

The new Mercedes GLA will radically change its image and no longer looks like a raised hatchback. It has a more sloping roofline, and in general, the design has become more solid and expressive. The impression is enhanced by the car’s height being increased by 10 cm at once.

By the way, the Mercedes crossover is more compact than the first-generation model (4410 mm) but with a longer wheelbase – 2729 mm. The platform, as before, was taken from the A-Class hatch, and the resemblance of the two cars is noticeable from the front.

The influence of the Mercedes A-Class is also felt in the interior of the GLA. The virtual dashboard and multimedia touchscreen are now grouped into one unit. The driving position has become noticeably higher.

Additionally, the new Mercedes GLA has become more spacious inside, and the rear seats have adjustments for horizontal position and backrest angle. The trunk volume has been increased to 435 liters.

The compact Mercedes crossover will initially receive only gasoline turbo fours with a volume of 1.33 liters (163 hp) and 2.0 liters (224 and 302 hp). The most powerful option, the GLA35 AMG, accelerates to one hundred in 5.1 seconds and reaches 250 km/h. Later, diesel versions, a 218-horsepower plug-in hybrid, and a top 421-horsepower GLA45 will appear.

Dual-clutch automatic transmissions with 7 and 8 speeds are offered for the Mercedes GLA, and the drive can be front or all-wheel. Options include adaptive dampers and an off-road package with a hill descent control system.
