The Lexus IS sedan has undergone a serious update. The model was presented in Japan, and it will go on sale in the fall.
The new Lexus IS has grown to 4710 mm in length and 1840 mm in width, with an unchanged wheelbase of 2800 mm. The car looks familiar, recognizable by its contoured side panels, modified wide grille, and new arrow-shaped LED headlights. The taillights now stretch across the entire width of the body.
There are fewer changes in the interior—only a new 10.3-inch touchscreen has appeared.
However, the equipment has been expanded: keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, power seats, and the Lexus Safety System+ complex (adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane and blind spot monitoring) are now standard.
Initially, the new Lexus IS 2021 will be equipped with familiar engines of 2.0 liters (241 hp) and 3.5 liters (260 and 311 hp). Later, a hybrid and a top-end version with a 420-hp 3.5-liter turbo engine will be available.
The drive can still be either rear or all-wheel, as before. The suspension of the Lexus IS has also been revised, and adaptive dampers are available for an additional fee.
