Official teasers of the fully updated Mazda CX-5 are already available

Mazda is preparing a new generation of the CX-5

Mazda has officially announced the next generation of the popular CX-5 crossover. The model premiere will take place on July 10 at 10:00 Central European Time. The manufacturer promises an updated design, a more spacious interior, and improved technologies. The news states that the car’s exterior will become more expressive and the control interface more intuitive.

Previous images confirm that the CX-5’s design will not undergo radical changes but will receive sharper lines and details. Furthermore, a hybrid version, developed independently by Mazda, will appear in the lineup for the first time. The new SkyActiv-Z gasoline engine is expected to debut in 2027.

Expected changes and competitors

According to preliminary data, the CX-5 will receive updated optics that integrate into the radiator grille, as well as a more massive bumper. The interior can be expected to feature improved materials and a larger multimedia system. The model will retain its proportions but will gain more modern features without copying the CX-50’s design.

The new CX-5 will compete with rivals such as the Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester, which already offer hybrid variants. An update for this model is quite expected, as the previous generation debuted back in 2016. A launch in the US market is possible in 2026.

Although the hybrid version will initially use an existing powertrain, Mazda is betting on its own technologies. This could become a significant argument for buyers looking for an efficient yet dynamic crossover.
