Updated Xpeng P7 with Lamborghini-style doors
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is preparing an updated version of its P7 sedan, which will feature striking scissor doors inspired by Lamborghini’s design. This solution will allow the model to stand out among competitors such as the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7.
In China, versions with such doors are already known as “peng-wing.” They will likely be available only for top-tier configurations. The doors open at an angle, ensuring safety during use.
Design and technical features
In addition to the doors, the new P7 inherits design elements from the Lamborghini Revuelto—particularly the Y-shaped daytime running lights. The prototype is also equipped with powerful Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
The rear of the car has become more aggressive thanks to sharper lines and LED taillights. At the same time, Xpeng appears to have abandoned the LiDAR system in favor of cameras, similar to Tesla.
Technical specifications
The updated P7 is expected to retain the previous powertrain options:
The presentation of the new model may take place as early as this fall at the Guangzhou Auto Show. For now, the question remains whether Xpeng will be able to achieve the same level of autopilot system efficiency without LiDAR as its competitors. Recent trends indicate that manufacturers are increasingly favoring visual technologies due to their affordability.
