The Updated Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Looks Good, But Is It Good Enough?

2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Update: What’s Changed?

Pros: Efficient, comfortable, improved interior

Cons: Lacks EV mode, inconvenient gear selector, average 6-speed automatic transmission

The fourth generation of the Hyundai Tucson, which debuted four years ago, immediately attracted attention with its bold design. For the 2025 model year, the Korean brand has introduced an updated version that has barely changed externally but has received a completely new interior and a hybrid version instead of a diesel one.

During testing, the Tucson Hybrid covered almost 2000 km, which made it possible to evaluate all its advantages and disadvantages. The hybrid version is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, which together produce 231 hp and 367 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.2 seconds.

Interior and Comfort

The most noticeable changes affected the cabin. Instead of the old design, two 12.3-inch panels appeared, combined into one curved structure. The steering wheel became three-spoke, and the gear selector moved to the steering column. Passenger space remained large, and the trunk holds 582 liters.

The hybrid version of the Tucson proved to be very smooth in operation, without sharp switches between the engine and the electric motor. However, it lacks a fully electric driving mode, which may disappoint some buyers.

The price of the Tucson Hybrid Premium with the N Line package reaches AU$64,585, making it more expensive than some competitors. However, for those looking for a comfortable and economical crossover, this model remains an attractive option.

Despite some minor drawbacks, such as an inconvenient gear selector or the lack of additional hybrid system operating modes, the 2025 Tucson Hybrid offers a good balance between technology, comfort, and efficiency. The updated interior is particularly impressive, now not inferior to its competitors.
