Both models have received a new front-end design with an updated grille and a central air intake.
The interior changes are minor but include a new center console and a larger display.
Update: Jeep has begun a campaign to announce the updated 2026 Grand Cherokee by publishing two photographs that showcase the exterior and interior changes. The manufacturer has also confirmed that this midsize SUV will appear at US dealers later this year.
Earlier, our photographers captured almost uncamouflaged 2026 model prototypes during road tests. The car received updates both outside and inside, although the changes are more evolutionary than revolutionary.
The front end has received a more compact, rectangular-shaped grille, reminiscent of the design of the all-electric Recon model. The headlights remain the same, but the trim around them has been modified. The new Grand Cherokee also has a completely different front bumper with a central air intake and a smaller lower opening. Additionally, the location of the fog lights has been changed, and a prominent sensor has been installed in the center. Rectangular air intakes, which look almost completely closed, are also noticeable.
So far, other design changes are not noticeable, but the production version may receive additional updates. It is worth noting that for the first time, the Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L will have an identical front-end design.
Interior
The interior is recognizable for its characteristic Jeep premium style, using leather and wood trim. However, it now features a new multimedia system with a much wider screen.
Although the larger display is a positive change, most physical buttons have been removed. This may raise questions, but at least the new screen features digital buttons for seat heating. Volume and settings knobs remain, and a new silver trim piece has been added.
Jeep has not disclosed details about the 2026 Grand Cherokee, but information about updates to the current model recently emerged. It is possible that the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine will be discontinued and replaced by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit.
The hybrid Grand Cherokee 4xe version, which is one of the most popular plug-in hybrids in the US, will almost certainly remain in the lineup. It is not yet known if its powertrain will be updated, but we hope engineers will increase the all-electric range beyond the current 42 kilometers (26 miles).
