Update of Volkswagen Tavendor for the Chinese Market
The Chinese market is receiving an updated version of the SUV Tavendor from FAW Volkswagen. This is a mid-cycle facelift that includes design changes and increased engine power. The model remains an exclusive for China and occupies a place between the Tayron and Talagon in the Volkswagen lineup.
The Tavendor update was presented via the official website of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Among the changes are a redesigned radiator grille, updated headlights, and LED rear lights. The design has become more aggressive, reminiscent of some features of the Peugeot 3008 and Citroen C5 Aircross.
Technical Updates
The flagship 450 TSI version is now equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 270 hp, which is 50 hp more than its predecessor. A 380 TSI modification with a 211 hp engine is also available. The model’s dimensions have increased to 5007 mm in length, but the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2980 mm.
The R Line version received a more sporty design: a honeycomb mesh radiator grille, unique alloy wheels, and a contrasting roof.
Production of the updated Tavendor, as before, is carried out at FAW-Volkswagen plants, but export supplies are not planned. This underscores Volkswagen’s strategy of focusing on the local market, where SUV models are particularly popular.
