Updated RAV4 GR Sport Outperforms GR Corolla in Power

New Toyota RAV4 GR Sport: Sport in a Compact Crossover

The new RAV4 GR Sport is Toyota’s attempt to add more sportiness to its popular crossover. While the RAV4 has always been focused on practicality, the lineup now includes a version with tuning by Gazoo Racing engineers. It offers not only a bold design but also improved handling.

Among the exterior changes are a new radiator grille, a splitter, and a massive rear spoiler. An exclusive Supersonic Red color with a black roof is available. Inside, there are sporty accents: GR logos, aluminum pedals, and leather upholstery.

Technical Features

Under the hood is a hybrid powertrain with 320 hp, which even surpasses the GR Corolla’s performance. The car comes with all-wheel drive, but exact acceleration figures have not yet been disclosed. Toyota engineers emphasized that the RAV4 GR Sport has:

GR-tuned suspension, improved steering, and increased body rigidity.

Interestingly, similar versions of the RAV4 appeared in Europe as early as 2022. Gazoo Racing President Tomoya Takahashi noted that the company has limited resources for developing new models, so it is still unknown whether the RAV4 will receive a full-fledged GR version.

Despite its sporty image, the RAV4 GR Sport remains a practical crossover. Its arrival may attract those looking for a balance between dynamics and functionality. The power of the hybrid powertrain is particularly impressive—320 hp is a truly high figure for the compact SUV segment. Now, all that remains is to wait for test drives to see how successfully the sporty character has been combined with comfort.
