Updated Volkswagen Tiguan 2025: Lots of Improvements for a Small Price Increase

Volkswagen presented the new Tiguan model last fall, and now the company has announced that prices will start at $29,495 with an additional delivery fee of $1,425. This is an increase of $615, but buyers will receive a significantly improved crossover.

Starting with the base Tiguan S model, which features a more expressive design, LED lighting, and 17-inch alloy wheels. They are complemented by body-colored side mirrors, silver anodized roof rails, and a slightly extended wheelbase.

Inside, the car received a minimalist redesign, with drivers seated behind a steering wheel wrapped in artificial leather and facing a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. Features include a wireless smartphone charger, a seven-speaker audio system, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.

The fabric interior is standard, as are four 45W fast USB-C chargers. Additionally, Volkswagen noted that the shifter has been moved to the steering wheel, contributing to an open and airy cabin.

The IQ.Drive support systems package is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go functionality, Travel Assist, Front Assist, and active blind spot monitoring. They are complemented by Light Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, Park Distance Control, and Exit Warning. Buyers will also find four new airbags and keyless entry.

The model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that develops 201 hp (150 kW / 204 ps). This is an increase of 17 hp (13 kW / 17 ps), and Volkswagen noted that the new model should be more efficient thanks to a weight reduction of approximately 170 lbs (77 kg). However, the company keeps additional details under wraps, but front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive costs $1,500.

More changes occur inside the Tiguan SE for $32,995, which has a slightly refreshed appearance with a powered tailgate and larger 19-inch wheels. The model also has remote start and a heated windshield.

Those seeking something sportier can opt for the SE R-Line Black for $35,455. It features R-Line bumpers, black mirror caps, black 20-inch wheels, and black roof rails.

Interior changes are more modest, but the cabin is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, perforated sport steering wheel, and dark headliner. This is complemented by stainless steel pedals, a high-transparency display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and R-Line logo door sills.

At the top level is the SEL R-Line model for $39,755, with all-wheel drive as standard. The novelty maintains the R-Line aesthetic but replaces black accents with silver roof rails and silver 20-inch wheels. The model also features illuminated VW logos, sound-insulating windshield, kick-sensor trunk lid, and LED sill illumination that projects the Volkswagen logo on the ground.

The biggest update occurs inside the vehicle: heated, ventilated, and massage front seats wrapped in premium Varenna leather. They are joined by a heated steering wheel and rear seats.

This is only the tip of the iceberg, as the flagship is equipped with genuine American walnut wood, illuminated trim on the dashboard and front doors. Additionally, buyers will find a larger 15-inch infotainment display, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a three-zone climate control system. Additions to this include an exquisite center console, a system with thirty ambient lighting colors, and Park Assist Plus.
