Tesla’s Favorite Shade Revived for Model S, Offered Free on One Trim Only

New Colors for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y

Tesla has never been known for particularly bright or extravagant paint options, usually choosing restraint over flashiness. However, the Model 3 and Model Y have just received an update in the form of two new shades of blue on the U.S. market, and both look great.

Marine Blue: Deep and Rich

The first new color is called Marine Blue. It is available for the Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Premium All-Wheel Drive versions of the Model 3 and Model Y. Marine Blue is a deep shade that replaces Deep Blue Metallic. The latter was brighter and slightly more noticeable.

As before, budget-conscious buyers choosing the base versions of the Model 3 or Model Y (Rear-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive) do not get this new color. For them, only Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, and Diamond Black are available.

In the U.S., Marine Blue adds $1,000 to the cost of the respective Model 3 and Model Y. In Canada, it costs C$1,300 (about US$940).

Frost Blue Metallic: Exclusive to Performance

The second new color introduced by Tesla is Frost Blue Metallic. It is exclusive to the Model 3 Performance and Model Y Performance. This is not the first time Tesla has offered this color. It was previously available for the Model S and Model X before those models were discontinued. Among all the colors Tesla offers, Frost Blue Metallic may be our favorite, along with Ultra Red.

Moreover, Frost Blue Metallic is a free option in the U.S. It was also launched for the Model 3 Performance in Canada, although it is not yet known whether it will be added for the Model Y Performance in the local market.

Overall, the color palette update makes the Model 3 and Model Y more attractive for those looking for something fresh and different from the standard shades. The decision to make Frost Blue Metallic free for the top trims looks particularly interesting, as it could further stimulate demand for Performance modifications. At the same time, replacing Deep Blue Metallic with Marine Blue reflects Tesla’s drive towards more restrained elegance, even in color choices.
