A new interesting project has appeared in the world of automotive fantasies — a sporty version of the Toyota Sienna minivan in the GR style. Although the GR brand (Gazoo Racing) is known for compact hot hatches like the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, as well as the Supra sports car co-developed with BMW, a designer decided to take an unconventional path and reimagine the family vehicle.
Exterior changes: aggressive style
The render, created by the Abimelec Design studio, showcases a radically altered look for the Sienna. The front end features a new grille with a black mesh, behind which sits a large intercooler with the GR-Four inscription. Additional air intakes and an aggressive splitter make the vehicle look more sporty.
The side sections of the body are adorned with widened wheel arches and extended side skirts. The rear arches, which already have a voluminous shape in the standard version, have become even wider. The car sits on black sport wheels, similar to those used on the GR Yaris, with large brake mechanisms and red calipers.
Technical details and the unlikelihood of series production
Among other changes are a lightweight carbon fiber roof and a new rear bumper with two exhaust pipes. Despite the impressive appearance, the author of the render admits that creating such a car for mass production is unlikely.
Overall, those looking for a large minivan are unlikely to want to buy a vehicle that can drift through corners like a rally car and consume fuel as if there’s no tomorrow.
The most realistic option could be the introduction of a GR Sport version for the Sienna, similar to what has already been done for the RAV4, Hilux, and Land Cruiser 300 models. Such a package typically includes a sporty body kit, modified suspension, and interior, but without drastic changes to the powertrain.
The project was inspired by a previous work from Abimelec Design — a render of a 707-horsepower Chrysler Pacifica with a Hellcat engine, which was even planned to be built for real. Although the GR Sienna remains just a fantasy, it demonstrates how even an ordinary family car can look truly exciting with the right accents.
It is worth noting that the modern Toyota Sienna already has quite sharp body lines that lend themselves well to visual modifications. This makes it an interesting base for tuning, although real demand for such versions among minivan buyers remains questionable. The manufacturer’s sporting ambitions are likely to be focused on more traditional models, such as the future Celica and MR2, rather than turning a family hauler into something extreme.
