Ford and Filson created a premium Bronco SUV
Ford has teamed up with the Seattle-based company Filson, which specializes in outdoor goods, to create a premium version of its SUV. The new Bronco Filson combines the brand’s legendary off-road qualities with high-quality materials that, by design, are meant to “patina” over time rather than “wear out” from heavy use.
Exterior design and colors
Visually, the Bronco Filson stands out with a unique grille, special body-color wheel arch extensions, body-color side mirrors, and a branded spare tire cover. To enhance functionality, Ford designers integrated special trail-rail mounting points intended for securing long gear.
The color palette includes the signature hue Field Green Metallic, as well as Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, and Oxford White. Additionally, the Bronco Filson First Edition is painted in an exclusive Iron Sands Copper Metallic color and features unique fender badges.
Interior: A blend of luxury and durability
The interior is even more distinctive than the exterior. It focuses on premium materials that are also tough enough to withstand years of intensive use. The seats are upholstered in quilted and perforated leather with woven material inserts. Leather is also used in other parts of the cabin, complemented by brass accents on the dashboard and steering wheel.
Notable details include removable magnetic saddle bags integrated into the doors and additional bags in the cargo area. They are made from water-resistant and dirt-resistant materials and feature adjustable compartments for various gear.
Paul Wight, Global Director of Design for Ford SUVs, said: “There is a massive difference between premium and precious. If you hesitate, afraid of getting the interior dirty, such material has no place in a Bronco. Every material we chose together with Filson had to be honest, tactile, and incredibly durable. And, like great gear, this interior is not meant to wear out; it’s built to conform, aging beautifully alongside you and your adventures.”
In addition to high-quality materials and storage solutions, Ford also improved sound insulation, creating the quietest Bronco cabin. The manufacturer promises 20% less wind noise perception compared to the 2021 Bronco, thanks to “improved aerodynamics, acoustic glass, and enhanced seals.”
The equipment is quite generous and includes a 12-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, an upgraded B&O sound system, a digital rearview mirror, power running boards, and an A-pillar grab handle.
Powertrain and off-road capabilities
Under the hood, the Bronco Filson features a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This engine is used in the Bronco Raptor but features special tuning for smoother operation. Ford did not disclose the specifications, but the Raptor produces 418 hp (312 kW) and 597 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and an advanced four-wheel-drive system.
The Bronco Filson also comes standard with the Sasquatch package, which enhances its off-road capabilities. It includes front and rear electronic locking differentials, high-performance Fox internal bypass shocks, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in 35-inch all-terrain tires. The driver also has access to Trail Turn Assist, Trail 1-Pedal Drive, and the Terrain Management System with seven G.O.A.T. modes.
Price and availability
The Bronco Filson will go on sale in North America in early 2027, with order books opening in the fall of 2026. Ford stated that the price of the new version will be “around $70,000 USD.” This will make it the second most expensive model in the Bronco lineup after the Raptor, which costs $79,995.
To support the launch of the special edition, the company also announced a limited collection of Bronco x Filson clothing and gear, as well as the Bronco Filson Tour, which will cover 23 cities starting in July.
This move by Ford is a logical continuation of the strategy of producing niche, high-profit versions of popular models. The collaboration with Filson, a brand associated with quality, durability, and an active lifestyle, allows Ford to attract a new audience of buyers who value not only off-road capabilities but also aesthetics and materials. The use of the Raptor engine and the standard Sasquatch package makes this version not just “premium” but also technically prepared for serious off-roading, justifying its high price. The improved sound insulation also indicates that Ford aims to make the Bronco more comfortable for daily use without sacrificing its legendary off-road qualities.
