This is How Avatr Imagines the Flagship Sedan of the Future

Presentation on the European Market

Avatr aims to strengthen its position in the European market, so their presence at the IAA Mobility exhibition was mandatory. The Chinese brand, which already has a design studio in Munich, presented the Vision Xpectra concept — a futuristic flagship sedan with an impressive road presence, similar to Maybach or Rolls-Royce.

Exterior and Interior Design

According to the designers, the Vision Xpectra combines a “hard” exterior with a “soft” interior. At the front, the split LED headlights are reminiscent of other Avatr products but extend further into the profile and into the sculpted front bumper.

The most striking feature is the large glass area with thin pillars and a windshield that flows into the hood. The profile is highlighted by large alloy wheels, squared-off fenders, and unconventional proportions. The short rear end is an extension of the rear shoulders, while the bumper is dominated by a large diffuser.

Interactive Features

In line with Avatr’s goals of creating cars with “emotional intelligence,” the Vision Xpectra senses its surroundings and the user, with lighting sections of the body creating a welcome sequence. Furthermore, the prismatic glass cabin emits a warm glow from within.

Large, pillarless suicide doors provide easy access to the cabin. The four-seater cabin features dynamic lighting, headrests resembling inflatable pillows, and transparent displays. Another interesting detail is the lamella sculptures on the doors, which connect with the dashboard during opening and closing.

Technological Features

The element in the center of the dashboard is called a “vortex” and contains a “living AI object” that interacts with passengers. As for the interface, the “core” on the center console combines touch and gesture control elements within a circular unit. Finally, the design team also created accessories for champagne glasses and luggage that match the cabin’s atmosphere.

Dimensions and Comparison

The concept is 5,843 mm long, 2,132 mm wide, and 1,405 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,450 mm. This is a full 823 mm longer than Avatr’s largest production model. In fact, the Vision Xpectra’s dimensions are similar to the Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase and the gigantic Hongqi Guoli, surpassing the Huawei Maextro S800 and JAC.

Technical Details and Brand Future

Technical specifications have not been disclosed, but Avatr currently offers models with all-electric and hybrid powertrains, combining Changan’s chassis, CATL’s batteries, and Huawei’s technology.

As one might guess, the Avatr Vision Xpectra is not intended for series production. However, it sets the tone for the evolution of the brand’s style, and some of its features may find their way into a future flagship model.

Avatr’s current lineup consists of two pairs of mechanically related sedans and crossovers — competing with the Tesla 06 / 07 and the larger 12 / 11. However, this number is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. According to Car News China, the company plans to introduce no less than 17 new products by 2030.

The growing interest in luxury electric vehicles, especially in the European market, is encouraging manufacturers like Avatr to experiment with design and technology. Such concepts not only demonstrate future potential but also serve as an indicator of trends that could become standard in the next decade, combining high technology with emotional engagement for the driver and passengers.
