This is what the new Renault Twingo looks like before the official premiere

Photos of the new Renault Twingo EV have appeared online

Images of the electric Renault Twingo have surfaced online ahead of the official premiere scheduled for November 6. The city car showcases its exterior and interior, retaining familiar features of previous generations.

Design and exterior

The production version is almost identical to the 2023 concept, with minor changes: conventional door handles, wheel covers, updated LED lighting, and bumpers with protective trim. The characteristic “frog-like” front end, compact silhouette, and rounded rear end, inspired by the original 1992 model, have been retained, but now in a five-door configuration.

Interior and equipment

The interior has inherited the general features of the concept but uses more practical materials. Hard plastics have been replaced with premium surfaces, and the seats have been upholstered in fabric. A floating multimedia system screen is located on the center console, and the instruments are similar to those used in Dacia cars. Physical climate control buttons are retained on the console and steering wheel. A bright yellow accent on the dashboard and a red element between the front seats add liveliness to the interior.

Technical specifications

The fourth generation Twingo will be exclusively electric, built on the AmpR Small platform (formerly CMF-BEV), which is also used by the Renault R5, R4, and Nissan Micra. The car is expected to feature a single electric motor and a small lithium-iron-phosphate battery. Detailed technical parameters will be announced during the official presentation.

Competition and pricing policy

In the European market, the Twingo will face competitors including the Dacia Spring, Leapmotor T03, the upcoming Volkswagen ID.Every1, and electric Nissan models. It will also compete with budget B-segment cars such as the Fiat Grande Panda and Citroën e-C3. Former Renault CEO Luca de Meo promised that the Twingo’s price would be less than €20,000 before subsidies, with leasing starting from €100 per month. Whether these figures will hold true under current conditions will become clear after the official announcement.

The popularity of affordable electric cars in Europe continues to grow, and the Twingo could become a key player in this market thanks to its combination of compactness, familiar design, and competitive price. Its success will depend not only on technical specifications but also on Renault’s ability to keep its stated price promises amid inflation and changes in supply chains.
