by In 10 months of 2019, there were 129,815 road accidents in Ukraine. This was reported by the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshitsky, as conveyed by UNN. 
From January to October, 2,716 people died and 27,639 were injured on Ukrainian roads. A total of 21,033 accidents with casualties were recorded. That means the figures are approximately at last year’s level and radical improvement should not be expected.
Oleksiy Biloshitsky also voiced the most common causes of road accidents in Ukraine:
– exceeding safe driving speed – 34% of accidents
– violation of maneuvering rules – 22%
– violation of intersection passage rules – 8.5%
– failure to maintain a safe distance – 7.5%
– violation of pedestrian crossing rules – 6%
– drunk driving – 5%
Moreover, the main types of road accidents were named:
– collision
– collision with a stationary vehicle
– collision with an obstacle
– hitting a pedestrian
– deviation from the road with vehicle overturning.
