Bertone’s Final Concept Bearing the Company Name is Being Put Up for Auction
The Bertone Nuccio car is an example of how the company went through ups and downs. It was initially shown as a non-functional concept but that same year it was transformed into a fully-fledged car. Now this specimen, the last one to bear the Bertone name, is being put up for sale.
The Nuccio’s design is inspired by the Lancia Stratos Zero, and it is named after the son of the company’s founder. It is based on the chassis, engine, and gearbox from a Ferrari F430. The auction winner will get a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8, paddle-shift gear changes, and an impressive exhaust sound.
Unique Design and Interior
The car’s body is the most impressive. The front is made in the shape of a sharp wedge, and the LED lights not only look stylish but also warn pedestrians about braking. The large windshield with a single wiper and roof arches inspired by a crocodile add aggressiveness to the concept.
The interior is not as extreme as the exterior but is far from Ferrari standards. It features mechanical instruments, red leather trim, and metal control elements. The current owner purchased the car in 2018 at an auction where Bertone’s assets were being sold.
The auction will take place in July with RM Sotheby’s, and the expected price is between $460,000 and $600,000. Although Bertone ceased operations in 2014, its name is being used by a new company attempting to revive the brand. Will the new models be able to achieve the same historical significance as the Nuccio? This will depend on the success of their future projects.
Bertone left a significant mark on automotive design, and the Nuccio is one of the brightest examples of its creativity. Its sale could become an important event for collectors and fans of Italian car design.
