Hyundai i20 N Shadow Edition: Farewell Series for Australia
The Hyundai i20 N receives a special farewell version called the Shadow Edition, which will be available exclusively on the Australian market. This is a limited series consisting of only 100 cars, designed to bid a worthy farewell to the current generation of the model, as a fully updated car is already being prepared to replace it.
Exterior and Interior Differences
The most noticeable change is the installation of 18-inch matte bronze forged wheels, which look significantly better than the standard i20 N wheels. Additionally, the car received new black wheel nuts and black decals along the lower part of the doors. While the standard model is available in five different colors, the Shadow Edition can only be ordered in one of two options: Atlas White or Phantom Black.
Changes have also occurred inside the hatchback. These include a bronze numbered plaque on the dashboard, an Alcantara gear knob, special rubber mats with a Pirelli P Zero tire tread pattern, and a steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara with a blue 12 o’clock marker.
Technical Specifications and Price
No changes were made to the car’s powertrain. It retains the familiar 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 201 hp (150 kW) at 5500-6000 rpm and a torque of 275 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential, making the i20 N an extremely fun car for spirited driving.
The price for the Shadow Edition will be higher than for the standard model. The base i20 N starts at 37,500 Australian dollars (26,500 USD) excluding on-road costs, while prices for the Shadow Edition start from 41,500 Australian dollars (29,300 USD) for the Atlas White version, and the Phantom Black version costs from 42,095 Australian dollars (29,700 USD).
This farewell edition emphasizes how important the “hot” hatchback market was for Hyundai, and how the manufacturer decided to mark the end of the life cycle of a model that has become a true icon for enthusiasts. The limitation to just 100 units makes this version not just an update, but a true collector’s item, which will undoubtedly find its buyers among brand fans. While other markets are already preparing for the arrival of the new generation i20, Australia is getting the last “fix” of drive from a model that will be remembered for its sharpness and handling.
