Lexus IS 500 Ultimate Edition: the last chance to get a V8
Lexus has introduced a special version of its IS 500 sports sedan called the Ultimate Edition. This may be one of the last cars with a naturally aspirated V8 on the North American market. Production is limited to 500 units, making this model particularly special for fans of powerful engines.
Under the hood remains the same 5.0-liter V8 with 472 horsepower and 535 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Externally, the car features an exclusive “Wind” gray paint, 19-inch BBS alloy wheels, and red Brembo brake calipers.
Interior details and exclusivity
The interior of the IS 500 Ultimate Edition is executed in a red-and-black color scheme with a combination of NuLuxe and Ultrasuede materials. The steering wheel is inspired by the design of the legendary LFA, and each unit will have a serial number emphasizing its limited production. Additional details, such as red seatbelts and special multimedia screen animations, make this version even more unique.
The official price has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be higher than the standard IS 500 F Sport Performance model. If this is truly the last version of the IS with a V8, then Lexus has given it a worthy farewell, albeit without the same fanfare as the Toyota Supra Final Edition.
The production of such cars is becoming rare due to increasing environmental requirements and the shift toward electric vehicles. Therefore, the IS 500 Ultimate Edition may not only be the last chance to buy a new V8 sedan but also a potential collector’s item in the future.
