In the civilized world, even the president’s fleet is a message. And Macron has just reminded us where modern Europe is heading.
On May 8, when all of Europe (and the entire civilized world) commemorated the victory over Nazism, French President Emmanuel Macron appeared in public in his new official car—an electric DS N°8 in the special Presidential version. This is not just a stylish electric crossover but an armored vehicle with French charm and a nod to elegant modernity.
This is already the fourth DS specially made for Macron—he previously used the DS 7 in Elysee versions, including an extended hybrid. But now, the focus is on full electrification.
The contrast is noticeable not only with the president’s previous cars but also with the “other reality”: while Paris enjoys silence, progress, and electric cars, somewhere east of Europe, a mummy stands in a square, and a country celebrates victory with rockets in the sky and a cult of death instead of remembrance.
The world is moving forward—both literally and figuratively. Some are in an electric DS crossover, while others are on a tank with the letter Z.
