World’s First All-Wheel Drive M2 and i3 Sedan Lineup: BMW Suffers Information Leak

New BMW M2 with All-Wheel Drive and Other 2027 Surprises

BMW is actively working on a whole range of updated and completely new cars, but the details remain secret. However, a recent accident on the brand’s official accessories website allowed a glimpse into the future and revealed several models planned for the American market for the 2027 model year.

The First BMW M2 xDrive in History

The most interesting discovery was the mention of the first all-wheel-drive BMW M2 xDrive in history. This version is expected to combine the powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine with an all-wheel-drive system. Such a combination is anticipated to deliver around 473 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.

This means we can expect an all-weather coupe… The compromise, at least for purists, is that it will likely be automatic-only.

Updates for the 3 Series and the Emergence of New i3 Models

The site also mentioned the M350 xDrive model, which is set to replace the current M340i xDrive, as well as two fully electric variants: the i3 40 xDrive and the i3 50 xDrive. The latter, a sedan, is expected to mirror the specifications of its iX3 SUV sibling, receiving an all-wheel-drive system with two motors producing a combined 463 horsepower.

Electric SUVs and Crossover Updates

As for the electric iX3 SUV, three versions are expected for the American market: the top-tier 50 xDrive, the mid-level 40 xDrive, and the base rear-wheel-drive 40 sDrive. The future iX4 coupe-crossover was also mentioned, which will be similar to the regular iX3 but without a rear-wheel-drive version.

The 2027 lineup for the X5 will also find room for an electric model – the iX5 60 xDrive. Judging by the index, its power will exceed 463 hp. Furthermore, it has been officially confirmed that a facelift for the flagship 7 Series sedan is expected.

These accidental mentions in the accessories catalog clearly indicate that BMW is preparing a large-scale update of its model range in the coming years, with a focus on electrification and expanding capabilities through all-wheel-drive systems even for such sports models as the M2. This strategy reflects general market trends, where buyers are increasingly seeking a combination of dynamics, practicality, and all-weather capability. The emergence of the M2 xDrive could become a real turning point for this legendary series, opening it up to a new audience in regions with challenging climatic conditions.
