In Japan, on October 22, the solemn coronation of the new Emperor Naruhito is scheduled. Specifically for this event, a special parade convertible was prepared for the new monarch. 
Since the Japanese imperial court traditionally uses Toyota Century sedans, it was this car that was made into a convertible. It will carry Naruhito along a 4.6-kilometer route through the streets of Tokyo. The Toyota Century convertible remains a four-door.
Notably, the rear seats were raised by 40 mm so that the people could better see their monarch. 
Like the standard 2019 Toyota Century, the convertible is equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 5.0-liter V8 and an electric motor. Their combined power is 425 hp. The parade convertible Toyota will be used in the future as well. In particular, it is on this vehicle that Emperor Naruhito will arrive to open the 2020 Olympics.
