A Light and Powerful Sports Car from a British Company
The British company Larkin has unveiled a prototype of its new Feroxa sports car in the form of a speedster. The car is a limited series of only 10 units and combines classic design with modern technology. The main material for the body is carbon fiber, which has allowed the weight to be reduced to 1300 kg – less than that of an Aston Martin Vantage.
Engineer Douglas Larkin, the company’s founder, used the platform from one of the well-known sports cars as the basis for the Feroxa. The engine lineup includes a naturally aspirated 4.3-liter V8 with a power output of 420 hp, as well as an optional 500 hp V12. All versions will receive a manual transmission.
Design and Prospects
The exterior of the Feroxa is executed in the style of modern speedsters: a streamlined hood, LED lighting, massive rear wings, and a diffuser. The interior of the prototype is not yet finished, so the details of the interior are still unknown. The price of the car has also not been announced, but given the hand assembly and limited series, it will be high.
The presentation at the Goodwood Festival showed that even small manufacturers can create competitive sports cars. Using a ready-made platform helped reduce development costs, and the lightweight body and powerful engines promise bright driving impressions. The final version of the Feroxa is likely to debut next year.
