Pirelli Introduces Custom Tires for the Porsche 911 GT3

New Tires for the Porsche 911 GT3 from Pirelli

For Porsche 911 GT3 owners seeking new tires for the road or track, the Italian company Pirelli offers two specially developed options: the P Zero R and the P Zero Trofeo RS. Each model is created for the latest version of the GT3 to unlock even greater potential from one of Porsche’s most driver-focused sports cars.

Road and Track: Two Different Approaches

It all begins with the P Zero R model, positioned as a high-performance tire for public roads. A new rubber compound was developed for it, providing excellent grip on various types of surfaces and in different conditions, including wet roads. This tire has a wide operating temperature range.

Interestingly, the construction of the front and rear tires differs slightly. This engineering solution allowed for exceptional steering precision through the front wheels while providing greater control over the rear axle.

The Pinnacle of Track Capabilities

The second novelty — the P Zero Trofeo RS — is created to offer maximum performance on the race track. The experience gained by Pirelli in developing custom tires for the more powerful 911 GT3 RS model was used to create rubber for the standard GT3. Like all Pirelli tires developed specifically for Porsche, these models bear the ‘N’ marking, confirming their custom nature.

Pirelli mentions that during development, they actively used virtualization tools, which allowed them to reduce both time and the use of prototypes by approximately 30 percent.

Details and Prospects

Information regarding the cost of the new tires has not yet been disclosed. However, considering the brand and segment, it is unlikely one can expect budget-friendly solutions. The question of whether the efficiency of virtual development will be reflected in the final price for the consumer remains open.

The launch of such specialized products highlights the close collaboration between car manufacturers and tire makers, aimed at achieving specific characteristics. This points to a trend where a car is already designed from the factory for a specific type of tire, and subsequent updates from tire companies allow owners to gain even more driving pleasure, both in daily commutes and on race weekends.
